Super Nintendo World @ Universal Studio’s Japan

The new Super Nintendo World attraction at Universal Studio’s is open for the public, watch this guided tour from Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

While it will be sometime until anyone can travel overseas to visit Japan, it’s still nice to have things to look forward to. The design of Super Nintendo World looks truly amazing, as if you have just stepped right into a Mario game!

New Code Geass Project (anime and mobile game)

Sunrise has announced Code Geass: Z of the Recapture (Dakkan no Zetto) the new anime series which will take place after Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection (released in 2019).

This will be directed by Yoshimitsu Ohashi (Amnesia, Galaxy Angel, Sacred Seven), the script by Noboru Kimura (Princess Principal: Crown Handler, Problem children are coming from another world, aren’t they?). The character designer is Takahiro Kimura which will once again be based on the original character designs by CLAMP. Astrays will be designing the Knightmare mecha this time. No release date has been set for the anime yet.

New Code Geass Project announcements (in Japanese).

Genesic ReCODE will include characters from every Code Geass title released to date with newly drawn illustrations. That includes not only the entire Lelouch saga, but also other side stories, such as Akito the Exiled, Renya of Darkness, and Oz the Reflection. Sunrise also aims for the mobile game to become the new portal for the whole franchise. The mobile game will have two battle formats in RPG and Simulation (Strategy).

The game’s cast includes 3 original new characters:

  • Shun Horie as Al, a boy with no memories
  • Yūki Takada as Gigi, a mysterious girl
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Archive, the librarian of the memory library

Code Geass Genesic Re;CODE will be available for smartphones in Spring 2021 in Japan.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Trailer 3 and EVA EXTRA app

As reported previously, Evangelion 3.0+1.0 was delayed this year, due to the covid pandemic. The movie has now gotten a new release date for Japanese cinemas, 23rd January 2021.

In addition to the new release date, studio Khara has released a new trailer as well as a mobile app called EVA EXTRA for android and iOS devices. The app will provide you with news, videos, music, mini games and other goodies all exclusive to the app (please note, for now, all text within the app is in Japanese). Click here for app website.

Monster Hunter Movie Trailer

Sony Pictures has released the trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter movie. Based on the popular video game franchise that saw it’s original release way back on the Playstation 2 (2004).

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson who’s previous work also involved another Capcom franchise being Resident Evil. The movie will star Milla Jovovich who plays as a member of a United Nations military team and Tony Jaa as the hunter, one of many skilled “Monster Hunters”.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Announcement

At Tokyo Game Show 2020, executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, announced Resident Evil: Infinite Darknessis which will be a CGI episodic series coming to Netflix in 2021.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be based around the stories of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, and “adds suspense into dynamic action scenes” to “reveal a Resident Evil world unlike anything seen before.”

Produced by TMS Entertainment, and animated by 3D animation studio Quebico, which also worked on the 2017 CG movie Resident Evil: Vendetta.

Sword Art Online Progressive Announcement

Now that Sword Art Online Alicization – War of Underworld anime has ended, the series has now gone back to it’s roots and announced Sword Art Online Progressive.

This will be TV anime adaptation of the six volume novel series. Sword Art Online: Progressive is a retelling of the events of the Aincrad arc, started nearly a decade after author Reki Kawahara wrote the original web novel.

The time line roughly takes place around episodes 1 through to 3 in the original Sword Art Online anime, it will mostly put the focus on Kirito and Asuna’s and their adventures together in the early parts of the game.

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon Anime

Announced back in May 2020, the popular fantasy adventure manga/anime series Inuyasha will be getting a sequel titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.

In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.

Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.

The World Ends With You Anime Announcement

Square Enix’s The World Ends with You (Subarashiki Kono Sekai) action role-playing game has announced an anime adaptation. The upcoming anime will use the same art style as it’s video game.

Published by Square Enix and originally released on the Nintendo DS back in 2007, the game has also seen a mobile version (iOS/Android) and for the Nintendo Switch.

Funimation will be releasing the anime outside of Japan and is scheduled for 2021.
