It was announced that the TV anime “Tokyo Mew Mew Nyu ~ ♡” will be broadcast in 2022! The director is Takahiro Natori, and the character designer is Mr. Satoshi Ishino. Animation will be done by Yumeta Company and Graphinica.

Please enjoy the teaser visual of Myu Ichigo spinning around in her new costume! While it has not been confirmed, speculation from this costume implies that the series will animate the chapters of the manga Tokyo Mew Mew a la mode and Tokyo Mew Mew Re-Turn, which the previous Tokyo Mew Mew anime did not cover. It is interesting to note that there is also a spin off manga named Tokyo Mew Mew Olé! featuring male characters, that has not confirmed yet where it fits into the main Tokyo Mew Mew universe. Could these characters also be integrated into the new animation project? We will have to wait and see!

Auditions were held for the roles of the 5 girls and their voices actors have formed a music group called Smewthie. Singles and merchandise from group will already start releasing this March. The singles “Bitter sweet darling” and “Resolution of colors” were used in the auditions for the role of Ichigo but will feature all of the girls singing.

The 5th Season of My Hero Academia will be starting late March 2021. It will cover the Joint Battle Training Arc from the manga, where Class 1A and 1B will be fighting it out as they learn more about their quirks and how to work together as a team.

Joran : The Princess of Snow and Blood will begin airing in April 2021 on Crunchyroll and looks to be a promising supernatural action anime.

The anime will follow the activities of “Nue,” an organization of shogunate executioners who enforce the government. However, behind the glamorous city, the dissident organization Kuchinawa strives to overthrow the administration, while the Nue of the Tokugawa regime, who was entrusted with its extermination, are in conflict. Sawa Yukimura, whose family was killed when she was young, continues to search for Janome, the executioner of the Nue.“

Upcoming anime Odd Taxi is slated to stream on Crunchyroll in April 2021, it features the daily lives of anthropomorphic characters that lead to a mystery!

“In a city which should be familiar, there is the feeling of something a little different.

Kotokawa is a taxi driver who lives an ordinary life, taxing some quirky customers around. A slightly eccentric stranger who has no relatives nor any relations with other people, Kotokawa’s hobby is to listen to Rakugo on the radio before going to bed. If you need more magical girls in your life, then you’ll be delighted to hear that Healin’ Good Precure is getting a movie this year in continuation to the series! It will also cameo some characters from Yes! Precure 5.

A new website has popped up with a teaser image and countdown to announce an upcoming Tokyo Mew Mew project. The countdown will end on April 2nd, so we have a little over a month to ponder the possibilities!

Since the original manga and its anime adaption in the early 2000’s, there have been some recent manga projects, including an all male team version called Tokyo Mew Mew Ore and a sequel to the original called Tokyo Mew Mew 2020 Re-Turn. My speculation would be the latter being green lit for a new anime project.

However it’s not unusual for older anime franchises to be completely rebooted, as we’ve seen with series like Sailor Moon Crystal and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, which give more faithful to the manga story adaptions than their earlier counterparts.
